Mobility assistance

Barrier-free living

The aim of barrier-free living is to enable independent living and improve the quality of life for all residents. Credit: Shutterstock

Mobility assistance encompasses a wide range of aids and technologies that help older people to move around safely and independently. These include walking sticks, rollators, electric wheelchairs and digital solutions such as navigation and positioning systems for people with mobility impairments.

Advantages for older people:

  1. Maintaining independence: Mobility assistance enables older people to continue to actively participate in social life and carry out everyday tasks independently.
  2. Increased safety: Aids such as rollators or stair lifts reduce the risk of falls and accidents.
  3. Relief for relatives and care staff: assistance systems reduce the need for constant support and allow more freedom in everyday life.
  4. Improving quality of life: With suitable aids, older people can maintain their mobility for longer, which has a positive effect on their physical and mental health.
  5. Access to modern technologies: Digital mobility solutions such as GPS-supported navigation aids or intelligent walking aids make it easier to get around and find your way around.

Mobility assistance makes a significant contribution to enabling older people to lead an active and safe life.
