Generic term for digital healthcare solutions that facilitate prevention, diagnosis and treatment, for example through telemedicine or smart medical devices.
E-healthcare refers to the use of digital technologies and internet-based solutions in the healthcare sector to make medical care and administration more efficient. This includes electronic patient records, telemedicine, digital healthcare applications, online appointment booking and the networking of healthcare services.
A particular advantage of e-healthcare lies in the improved medical and nursing care in rural regions, especially in countries with large, sparsely populated areas. Telemedicine and digital health platforms enable patients to access medical advice, diagnoses and treatment recommendations even over long distances without having to travel long distances. This helps to secure healthcare provision in structurally weak regions and compensate for the lack of specialists in local healthcare. Modern technology also makes it possible to communicate data such as blood pressure, blood sugar levels etc. to healthcare and nursing staff in order to provide a database for analysis.
E-healthcare facilitates access to healthcare, optimizes processes and improves communication between patients, doctors and nursing staff. Digitalization allows treatments to be personalized, waiting times to be shortened and medical information to be made available more quickly, which increases the overall quality of healthcare.
