Cognitive computing is the use of artificial intelligence to analyze large amounts of data. It is used, for example, for the early detection of dementia or the analysis of health data.
Cognitive computing refers to the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to imitate human thought processes and analyze complex amounts of data. Conventional computer systems work according to fixed rules. Cognitive computing can independently recognize patterns, make connections and learn from experience.
Typical areas of application include natural language processing, image recognition and decision support in areas such as healthcare, the financial sector and customer service. Systems such as IBM Watson are well-known examples of cognitive computing. The aim is to support people in making decisions by analyzing large amounts of data and gaining new insights that would be difficult for humans to access on their own.
